Community Alert From Hatzalah Orlando – Golf Cart Safety

Following two incidents where people were injured in Golf Cart accidents Erev Yom Tov, Hatzalah Orlando has released the following community alert.

We urge everyone to be aware of the tremendous safety risk of unlicensed children and young adults driving golf carts in resorts. Oftentimes, these vehicles are speeding or are dangerously overloaded and flip over, causing serious injury.

Each year, we respond to numerous accidents stemming from inexperienced drivers, operating golf carts with undo regard, putting themselves, passengers, and innocent pedestrians at serious risk of injury, or worse c’v. We once again experienced this exact scenario on erev pesach.

We are asking parents to recognize the danger and prevent them.

We have been made aware that local law enforcement is actively enforcing the underage driving rules inside of the various resorts with severe penalties for those found violating the law.

It is up to YOU, dear parents, to understand the enormous risk and liability and ensure that these vehicles are being operated safely and lawfully.
