FES-UA Scholarship Updates For This Coming School Year

Agudah Florida has shared two significant updates regarding the Florida Unique Abilities (FES-UA) Scholarship.

First, a recap of the basics: The state of Florida offers two scholarships, the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO) for students from K through 12th grade, and the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities (FES-UA) for eligible students from age three and up. Both scholarships are not income-based, so anyone eligible can qualify. If you haven’t registered yet for the appropriate scholarship, we encourage you to do so.

Important FES-UA Updates:

Eligibility for Younger Students: Until this year, students had to be 3 years old by the start of the school year to qualify for FES-UA. Starting this year, children who turn 3 by the end of December are eligible. Note: Each family only has one FES-UA application. If you haven’t signed up yet for an FES-UA scholarship for the upcoming year, you can do so now and add all eligible children. However, if you already applied for older children, you must go into that application and click “add a student”. You can only do this if your application is complete (either approved or denied), not while it is still pending.

Combining VPK and FES-UA: Previously, students could not combine the VPK scholarship with the FES-UA. Now, for the first time, students can use both scholarships together to cover preschool tuition and fees. To do this, you must apply for both the FES-UA and the VPK scholarship individually.
