Off To The Races, Chai Lifeline Kids Attend Miami Grand Prix
On May 8, Chai Lifeline kids got to experience the race of a lifetime at this year’s Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix race. A special anonymous donor generously provided four nights at a hotel and highly sought, sold-out tickets to 18 Chai Lifeline kids and their families. The group had a great time watching drivers race by their track-side seats up-close.
“Our son has been struggling emotionally since he was diagnosed and he dreads the nausea and side effects of his treatments,” said one Chai Lifeline mom. “We hadn’t seen him smile in many weeks until we told him we were going to the F1 race! He was beaming the entire time, and for one glorious weekend, we could all forget he is sick.”
Chai Lifeline Southeast Director Matthew Weisbaum said “So much of what we do focuses on addressing emotional psychological needs and the day-to-day support for families with sick kids. Being able to give these families outrageously fun experiences like this lift the spirits of kids and parents in ways that they will never forget.”
