At this week’s Surfside commission meeting, Kasriel Gewirtz, aged 10, received the Surfside Citizen of the Year Award for his actions at a Surfside beach. After discovering a turtle nest while digging, Gewirtz watched over the nest until town officers arrived to secure it.
