U.S. Senate and House of Representatives Host Families of Hostages As Part of Chabad Arranged Visit
This past Tuesday, November 14, United States Senators and Representatives greeted 170 immediate family members of the 240 hostages held by Hamas. The families were brought to the US a day earlier by Chabad Terror Victims Project supporters.
On Monday evening, the families spent an emotional hours-long visit at the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Ohel (resting place) filled with prayers, tears, and loving encouragement from the hundreds who came to support them.
The families then flew to Washington, DC, to take part in the “March for Israel” rally at the National Mall and meet with political leaders to plead for their families in captivity.
On Tuesday morning, a large bipartisan group of U.S. Senators and Representatives – Republican and Democrat – hosted the families in the Dirkson building of the Capitol together with hundreds of Israel supporters.
Many ranking members of Congress and committee chairpersons attended – especially from the House Foreign Affairs Committee – and listened as families shared their heart-wrenching stories of their loved ones and the horrifying stories of their kidnapping.
As the Senators and Representatives spoke, their voices and words displayed their emotions and convictions. They were so moved by the sea of photo posters of hostages held by siblings, parents, children, and spouses that they asked for posters to hold them up as well.
