Tragedy In Biscayne Bay As Jewish Woman Dies in Tragic Boat Accident

The tragedy unfolded in Miami Tuesday when an Orthodox Jewish woman suffered a boating accident in Biscayne Bay.

According to the Coast Guard, they received a call for help at 4:15pm after a 54-year-old woman dove from a boat in Biscayne Bay near the MacArthur Causeway. The woman disappeared and her friends called 911.

The woman, later identified as Elaine Mehler from Englewood, New Jersey, was found by two people near Jungle Island unconscious and in critical condition.

Emergency responders airlifted Elaine to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Kovod Hames was handled by Chessed Shel Emes of Florida, with the burial to take place in Eretz Yisroel.
