Victim Identified, Arrest Made in Fatal Miami Hit-and-Run Monday Morning

The victim of a fatal hit-and-run Monday morning has been identified by police, and a suspect arrested.

According to the police, Mark James, 44, had been riding his bicycle at Northwest 12th Avenue and 51st Street around 8:00am when he was fatally struck by a black Nissan Rouge. The Rouge, which was driven by George Amparo, according to police, fled the scene.

James was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead.

Around five hours later, George Amparo arrived t the police station to turn himself in, admitting to having been behind the wheel of the Rouge.

The car had been previously found by the police, and was reported to have front end damage.
